12:00 Arrival
Children will begin their arrival routine by greeting peers and placing their belongings in cubbies.
12:05-12:20 Free-play
Children may choose from a variety of activities while interacting with peers and adults. Play opportunities include: dramatic play, construction, creative, sensory, literacy, discovery, sand/water, music, math and science.
12:20-12:25 Clean-up
Assisted by the teaching staff, children will clean up their play things. They use pictures, labels, verbal reminders and the daily routine in order to classify objects that go together and put them away in designated places.
12:25-12:35 Bathroom
Students will walk in a line to the bathroom where the teaching staff will assist in bathroom routines including but not limited to helping with buttons, zippers, flushing and hand washing.
12:35-12:45 Action time
This is a time for children to get their wiggles out. Children will dance and move a variety of body parts to music while strengthening their abilities to listen to direction and follow visual cues. Children also grow in their awareness of how parts of their body work together and where these parts are located.
12:45-1:25 Circle
All of the children and adults come together in a large group setting to say the Pledge of Allegiance, sing songs, play games, talk about important events in their lives, read stories, listen to guest speakers, explore new ideas and materials and learn from one another.
1:25-1:45 Gross motor
Students will engage in gross motor play with their peers on the large and/or small outside playground. Days that are particularly cold, snowy or rainy we will engage in indoor play in the gym where students will have a chance to play with bikes, tunnels, stepping stones, trampolines and hula hoops.
1:45-1:50 Bathroom
Students will walk in a line to the bathroom where the teaching staff will assist in bathroom routines including but not limited to helping with buttons, zippers, flushing and hand washing.
1:50-2:00 Snack
This is a social time where children and adults sit together to talk and eat. Independence, hygiene, good manners, nutrition and self-help skills are also enforced.
2:00-2:10 Writing time
Children will work on individual pre-writing skills as they trace, copy and recreate lines, shapes and letter forms.
2:10-2:20 Table time
Children use tabletop work spaces to participate in a variety of activities for learning and reinforcing skills. These activities include prewriting, math/science discovery, fine motor and creative arts.
2:20-2:35 Circle
This is a time for the students to enhance their awareness of the current day of the week, month and year. During this time, students discuss the weather outside and appropriate clothing to be worn. Children also participate in identifying letters in the alphabet, participate in finger plays and games that develop skills in counting and sequence.
2:35-2:40 iPad play
Students enhance their technology skills by interacting with apps that enhance their skills across all curriculum areas.
